August marks the month of closing a chapter and beginning a new one! I left my Studio in Custom House where I have been based for the last year on my residency with Leith School of Art.
I can't put into words how amazing this year has been, from having the fantastic studio space to all of the learning, teaching and opportunities that came through being with Leith School of Art. I am so grateful to have spent the year alongside Eve McGlynn who's colourful paintings will continue to inspire me. I would also like to extend my thanks to all of the staff at LSA who have supported me throughout the year.
I am delighted to finally reveal that I am going to be working as Artist in Residence at George Watson's College for the next year. It is a fantastic opportunity for me to be able to continue my practice and expand upon my experience of teaching- which I love!!
I am very excited to have also recently been employed by Upmbility where I will be assisting in running art workshops for Adults with Disabilities. This is a route I have always been passionate about and I am so lucky to be able to have another job doing exactly what I love!
I have also recently begun volunteering for Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity, supporting artists in bringing some joy to the children and young people - it has been SO much fun! I shall continue to volunteer for ProjectScotland as a mentor for disadvantaged young people too.
In exhibition news, I was very excited to make the Private View and Opening of Wells Contemporary Art Exhibition in the stunning Wells Cathedral. From over 3500 worldwide submissions, I am one of the 87 artists showing in this amazing location, alongside an Anthony Gormley installation! I am so grateful to have had my painting exhibited and to have met some incredible artists from across the world.
I would like to finish this blog by saying a massive thank you to SixFoot Gallery for having our Painting Reunion Exhibition and to Second Home Aberdeen for having my solo Show - both of which finished the end of this month.
Many more exciting things to come!! Thanks for reading.
