April was a very exciting month with lots of exciting things happening in my art world, including having my postponed Graduation from Gray's School of Art. The RSA New Contemporaries Exhibition came to a close this month too, and I am delighted to have sold 3 pieces of work from the show. It was such an incredible experience and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity.
I went on a trip to Barcelona, as this is somewhere I have been longing to go for a few years to be able to explore the beautiful buildings and mosaics of Gaudi. It was a fantastic city to explore, particularly for the art, architecture and atmosphere. I spent plenty of the time on my visit having my sketchbook and pen out capturing an essence of the city in quick drawings and watercolours. I know that the colours and mosaics will influence my work and I am really intrigued to investigate the architecture of Gaudi in more depth.
Following this lovely break, the bustling dynamics at school continued in preparation for the Art Exhibition which showcase the 4th, 5th and 6th years work. As the Artist in Residence, I also exhibited some of the work I have made whilst on my residency, as well as work in progress. I am thoroughly enjoying the residency and am working hard to make pieces with my time left here!
Finally, Look Again in Aberdeen opened the Creative Entrepreneurship Showcase which celebrates the talent and creativity of the alumni who took part in the Creative Entrepreneurship course during 2020. My work is shown alongside exciting new fine art, fashion, ceramics, and illustration from practitioners across Scotland. If you are in Aberdeen make sure to check it out!
